The small business outlook as a result of COVID-19 is especially bleak. According to a report released by Yelp, approximately 800 businesses closed per day, with the restaurant industry representing the highest across the nation.[1] State mandated policies such as stay-at-home orders, and requirements to purchase costly equipment aimed to keep the public safe, businesses have lost revenue, and those who were unable to successfully pivot were forced to permanently close their doors. Even more disheartening, business owners who worked their whole lives to create a life for themselves are in danger of losing their livelihoods, many of whom were unable to qualify for unemployment assistance or Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA).
